Community Day - July 2025
On 25 July, Leeds Federated took part in a vibrant community event at Queens Park, Pudsey, aimed at bringing residents together and strengthening local connections. The event, delivered in partnership with Breeze and supported by ASDA, Leeds City Council, and other local services, was a celebration of community spirit and a valuable opportunity to engage with residents on housing-related matters.
Originally, Leeds Federated had planned to host a more tenant-focused event on 24 July. However, following a suggestion from Cllr Simon Seary, we joined the larger Breeze event to benefit from greater footfall and wider community engagement. This decision allowed us to reach a broader audience and build new partnerships in the process.
The day featured a range of family-friendly activities, with Breeze providing a lively inflatable zone and dance area that kept children entertained throughout. While West Yorkshire Police were unable to attend due to operational issues, and the Fire Service had to leave before the event officially began, the atmosphere remained upbeat and welcoming.
From a housing perspective, the event offered a platform for Leeds Federated to connect with residents in a relaxed, informal setting. Our team was on hand to provide advice on reporting repairs, offer housing support, and listen to neighbourhood concerns. Notably, 100% of the tenants who spoke with us on the day raised concerns about anti-social behaviour (ASB). This feedback has placed ASB firmly at the forefront of our minds, and we are committed to exploring these concerns further and discussing them with the wider tenant community.
A key highlight was the presence of the Leeds City Council Hugo Bus, which provided advice on housing and wider council services. This mobile hub allowed residents to access information and support in a convenient and approachable way.
The event also marked the beginning of a new and promising partnership with ASDA, through their Community Champion, Angel Tabb, who attended the event and generously provided refreshments. This collaboration opens the door to future joint initiatives that can benefit the communities we serve.
Equally important was the relationship-building with Breeze, who have now welcomed Leeds Federated to participate in other events across the city. This partnership will help us reach more residents and contribute to wider community cohesion efforts.
Perhaps the most significant outcome from a housing perspective was the strengthened connection with local councillors, whose support was instrumental in facilitating these partnerships. Their involvement not only helped bring key stakeholders together but also reinforced the importance of collaborative working in delivering meaningful community engagement.
Councillor Simon Seary described the event as “a great success,” while Councillor Dawn Seary called it “a lovely day and a joyful outcome.” Their feedback reflects the positive impact of the day and the potential for future events to build on this foundation.
Looking Ahead
We encourage residents to visit the Your Voice page to share feedback and ideas for future events. If you have any housing concerns or would like to get involved in shaping your neighbourhood, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
While the event may not have achieved all of our intended housing engagement outcomes, it was a valuable step in building relationships, listening to our communities, and laying the groundwork for more impactful, housing-focused engagement in the future.

A Special Thank You
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Sharon Lanceley, Adele Rowley, Kescia Awork, and Rebecca Janes for their help and support in making the day a success. A very special thank you goes to Kirsten Lomakin, without whom the event simply would not have taken place. Your dedication and coordination were instrumental in bringing everything together.
