Update on Litter Complaint

Thank you to those who raised concerns about litter in the area. Following several visits and inspections, we have not found any significant litter issues at this time. However, if residents do notice litter, especially on the main street, they are encouraged to report it directly to Leeds City Council (LCC) or to Leeds Federated Housing Association (LFHA) so it can be addressed promptly.

  • Report to LCC: www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/environmental-health/report-litter or call 0113 222 4406
  • Report to LFHA: Email enquiries@lfha.co.uk or call 0113 386 1000

We appreciate your continued efforts in keeping our community clean and welcoming.

Keeping Our Community Safe – Free Safety Resources Available

As part of our ongoing commitment to creating a safer and more secure neighbourhood, we’re pleased to offer a range of free community safety items to residents. These resources are designed to help prevent anti-social behaviour, improve home security, and support personal safety.

Available items include:

  • Personal alarms for added reassurance when out and about
  • Window and door alarms to alert you to unexpected access
  • Door chains and wedge alarms for extra entryway protection
  • Sash jammers and window restrictors to reinforce vulnerable points
  • CCTV stickers (internal and external) and dummy CCTV cameras to deter unwanted behaviour
  • Soft closers and slam stops for internal doors to reduce noise and damage
  • Appliance mats to help with household safety and organisation

If you’re experiencing safety concerns or would like to request any of these items, please contact your Neighbourhood Officer. We’re here to support you in making your home and community a safer place to live.

Safety Gate Installation – Under Review

We are currently exploring the possibility of installing safety gates for both the double driveway and the pedestrian access point in response to recent community concerns. These measures aim to improve security and help prevent unauthorised access to shared spaces. At this stage, we are assessing the feasibility of the installation, which will depend on the overall cost and practical considerations. We are working with relevant teams to gather quotes and evaluate options. Once we have a clearer understanding of the financial and logistical implications, we will provide an update to the community. We appreciate your patience and continued engagement as we look into this request.

Your Voice Page Closure and Merger with Main Armley Page

After careful consideration, we have decided to merge the Your Voice for Armley Grange Mount page and merge its content and engagement into the main Armley community page. This decision has been made to improve practicality and streamline communication across the neighbourhood. Logistically, managing one central page allows us to respond more efficiently, reduce duplication, and ensure that all residents are better served as part of one unified community. We believe this change will strengthen engagement, improve visibility of updates, and foster a more inclusive space for everyone in Armley.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement.

Several restaurants and cafes offer deals where kids eat free, or for a reduced price, when accompanied by a paying adult. Some popular options include Bella Italia, TGI Fridays, Morrisons cafes, and Brewers Fayre. Many of these offers are available during specific times, school holidays, or with the purchase of an adult meal. Check online for more details.

The sessions will cover money saving tips, guidance on where to access financial support, and offer signposting to relevant services – ensuring attendees can access the broader help they may need.

Litter Free Leeds

Hey folks, just wanted to share something that might be helpful if things are a bit tight right now. There are some great local initiatives working to make sure good food doesn't go to waste and gets to people who need it.

Basically, they team up with businesses to rescue perfectly good surplus food and then share it with the community. It's a win-win: less waste and more support for families.

If you're finding it hard to put food on the table, it might be worth looking into these kinds of projects in our neighbourhood. They're doing some really important work.

It's fantastic to see so many people in Leeds getting involved with Litter Free Leeds! Having over 50 groups regularly litter picking across the city shows a real community spirit and commitment to keeping our neighbourhoods clean and tidy. It sounds like a great way for people to connect with their local area and make a tangible difference.
