Help create your new community garden!
We’re developing a new community garden on the land behind Greenside Walk in Wortley to help support local wildlife - and we’d love your help!
Your views – we’ve listened and acted
Following your feedback, we’re working with environmental charity, Hyde Park Source, to redesign the communal garden space on the Greenside Walk scheme. We’re aiming to create a colourful garden that attracts more wildlife and produces fruit and vegetables for you and your neighbours to enjoy.

Join in the fun!
Over the next month, Hyde Park Source will be working on the garden, and we’re inviting customers to join in the fun. You can drop by on the following dates:
Tuesday 6 May
Wednesday 7 May
Tuesday 12 May
Wednesday 13 May
Everyone is welcome to come along and get stuck in. Tasks will include digging, moving soil and plants, and helping to prepare the garden. On 13 May, there will also be plenty of planting activities for children, so bring your family along!
If you’d like to get involved, simply drop by on any of the dates above between 10am and 4pm. We recommend wearing suitable clothing and footwear. Drinks and snacks will be provided, and if you’re staying for the full day, please bring a packed lunch.

Incentives for residents at Farnley:
- Youth Service: Hosts different sessions for ages 11-12 and 13-17 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- DAZL Dance Group: A dance group meets on Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
- Extra-curricular Clubs:The school offers a wide variety of clubs, including sports, a Health & Social Coursework Club, and a Warhammer club.
- Enrichment Programs:Students can participate in different categories of clubs, such as Sports, Creative, and Cultural Capital.
- Workshops:The school has hosted workshops on careers, digital technology, and first aid with partners like Leeds City College.
- Located near Farnley, this center offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages, including climbing, abseiling, go-karting, and archery.
- This track club focuses on athletic skills like running, jumping, and throwing in the nearby area.
- This adventure playground in Leeds provides activities like high ropes, den building, and obstacle courses for children aged 6 and up.

Several restaurants and cafes offer deals where kids eat free, or for a reduced price, when accompanied by a paying adult. Some popular options include Bella Italia, TGI Fridays, Morrisons cafes, and Brewers Fayre. Many of these offers are available during specific times, school holidays, or with the purchase of an adult meal. Check online for more details.

SURPLUS TO PURPOSE
Hello, just wanted to share something that might be helpful if things are a bit tight right now. Some great local initiatives are working to make sure good food doesn't go to waste and gets to people who need it.
Basically, they team up with businesses to rescue perfectly good surplus food and then share it with the community. It's a win-win: less waste and more support for families.
If you're finding it hard to put food on the table, it might be worth looking into these kinds of projects in our neighbourhood. They're doing some really important work.
