Oakwood and Roundhay sit to the north east of Leeds, centred around the iconic Oakwood Clock and the expansive Roundhay Park. Known for their welcoming atmosphere and leafy streets, these neighbourhoods combine a strong community feel with easy access to green space and city life.

Residents enjoy a fantastic mix of amenities, from independent cafés and restaurants along Oakwood Parade and Street Lane to everyday essentials at Tesco Roundhay and local healthcare services. Popular local favourites include Roundhay Park’s lakes and Canal Gardens, Tropical World, and the bustling cafés around Oakwood Clock.

Oakwood and Roundhay are part of the Roundhay ward. Your local councillors, Lisa Martin, Jordan Bowden and Mohammed Rafique are active in supporting local initiatives and community events across the area.

Getting around is easy with regular bus routes connecting Roundhay Road and Street Lane to Leeds city centre. The area is around 4 miles from central Leeds and offers excellent access to nearby shops, schools and leisure facilities.

Explore Roundhay Park for peaceful walks, outdoor sports and family days out. Residents also enjoy local green spaces including Gledhow Valley Woods and Soldiers Field, which host seasonal events and community activities throughout the year.

Young people can take part in sports clubs, dance classes and creative programmes at venues across Roundhay and Oakwood, with regular community events and family activities taking place during the summer months.

Stay active at David Lloyd Leeds or make use of the tennis courts, running routes and outdoor gyms within Roundhay Park. Cheer on local teams, join fitness classes or enjoy social sports groups that bring the community together.

Oakwood and Roundhay have a rich local history, from the Victorian heritage of Roundhay Park to the historic Oakwood Clock, which has become one of Leeds’ best-known landmarks. Did you know Roundhay Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe?
