Swinnow and Horsforth sit in the north west of Leeds, close to Pudsey, Cookridge and Rawdon. Known for their welcoming communities and balance of green spaces with local amenities, these are areas where neighbours feel connected and community spirit is strong.

Residents enjoy a great mix of amenities, from independent cafés and shops along Town Street in Horsforth to convenient supermarkets and local services around Swinnow Lane and Pudsey Road. Hidden gems include Horsforth Hall Park, with its playground, skate park and seasonal events, alongside scenic walks through the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal and Golden Acre Park.

Swinnow is part of the Pudsey ward, while Horsforth forms its own ward within Leeds City Council. Your Horsforth councillors, John Garvani, Emmie Bromley and Raymond Jones are active in supporting local initiatives and community projects.

Getting around is easy with regular bus routes connecting Horsforth, Swinnow and Pudsey to Leeds city centre. Horsforth Train Station also offers convenient rail links across West Yorkshire, while Leeds Bradford Airport is only a short drive away.

Residents enjoy spending time outdoors at Horsforth Hall Park, Western Flatts Cliff Park and the green spaces around Woodhall Hills. The nearby canal paths are popular for walking, cycling and running throughout the year.

Young people can take part in sports clubs, dance classes and community activities at venues including Horsforth Community Arena and local youth groups across Pudsey and Swinnow. Seasonal fairs, charity events and community festivals regularly bring residents together.

Stay active at local gyms and leisure centres including the Edge Leisure Centre in Pudsey and nearby fitness studios in Horsforth. Residents also enjoy supporting local sports teams and taking part in community fitness sessions and park runs.

Swinnow and Horsforth both have fascinating local histories. Horsforth played an important role during the Second World War, with RAF Horsforth nearby, while Swinnow grew as part of Leeds’ post-war development and remains a proud residential community with strong local identity.

A Neighbourhood Plan sets out our commitment to you and your community. We want to help build a strong community with you, your neighbours, local businesses, local charities and so many more.

No-one knows your neighbourhood better than you and your neighbours, so to work out how the plan might look, we want to be guided by you.

A Neighbourhood Plan isn’t about “fixing problems”, it's about having a common goal of building a strong community. However, we will try our best to make your neighbourhood the best it can be for you and your community.

We want to know what's important to you and what you'd like to see in your community. We also want to hear what works well; is there someone in your community doing wonderful things for others that should be celebrated? Do you have an idea for your community, such as setting up a group activity that you’d like to arrange but need funding or resources to set it up? We can’t promise we can help with everything but let’s start the conversation.
