Hunslet Green sits in the south of Leeds, close to the Penny Hill Centre. Known for its strong sense of community, it’s a place where neighbours feel connected.
Residents enjoy a great mix of amenities, from local shops, such as Morrisons to the wonderful Hunslet Club, a hub of activities. Hidden gems include the green space at Grove Road where community events are often held.
Hunslet Green is part of the Hunslet and Riverside ward. Your councillors, Mohammed Iqbal, Ed Carlisle and Paul Wray are active in supporting local initiatives, find out more or get involved here.
Getting around is easy with regular buses from Balm Road to Leeds. The area is only 3.5 miles from the centre of Leeds and in walking distance to local supermarkets.
Explore Middleton Park for peaceful walks. Residents love making use of local green spaces at Grove Road and Hunslet Moor Park.
Young people can join enjoy sports clubs and arts programs at the Hunslet Club. Look out for outreach sessions on Grove Road and community events throughout the summer.
Stay active at PureGym Hunslet which is a short drive away. Cheer on local teams like Hunslet RLFC or join community fitness classes and social sports.
Hunslet Green has a fascinating history. A place with industrial roots, developed mainly into housing from the 1980s onwards. Did you know that for over 60 years, the Hunslet Moor Feast was a massive fixture, featuring large mechanical steam rides, roundabouts, and swing boats that drew crowds from across the city? The Feast no longer runs, with the Hunslet Festival taking place instead. We head there each year, so make sure to look out for us!

The sandwich bags seemed to be a hit with the kids and it was great to chat about what it's like to live in your area! The number of residents who have lived in the area for 10, 20+ years, speaks volumes about the community. Here's a reminder of the information we shared with residents on the day:
