Chapel Allerton and Moortown sit to the north of Leeds city centre and are known for their welcoming communities, leafy streets and vibrant local atmosphere. Popular with families, young professionals and long-term residents alike, the area combines independent businesses, green spaces and strong community spirit.

Residents enjoy an excellent range of amenities, from independent cafés, bars and restaurants around Chapel Allerton’s bustling centre to supermarkets and shops along Street Lane, Harrogate Road and Moortown Corner. Local favourites include Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton Park and the historic Meanwood Valley Trail, while nearby Roundhay Park offers one of the largest urban parks in Europe.

Chapel Allerton and Moortown are part of the Chapel Allerton and Moortown wards. Your local councillors include Jane Dowson and Mohammed Rafique for Chapel Allerton, alongside Mohammed Shahzad and Sharon Hamilton for Moortown, all of whom support local community initiatives and neighbourhood projects.

Getting around is easy with regular bus services along Harrogate Road, Scott Hall Road and Street Lane providing quick access into Leeds city centre and surrounding areas. The area is around three miles from central Leeds and is well connected for walking and cycling.

Residents enjoy spending time outdoors at Chapel Allerton Park, Gledhow Valley Woods and nearby Roundhay Park. The area’s tree-lined streets and green spaces make it popular for walking, running and outdoor activities.

Young people can take part in sports clubs, arts programmes and community events through local schools, youth groups and organisations such as Seven Arts and the Reginald Centre. Seasonal markets, festivals and community celebrations take place throughout the year and bring residents together.

Stay active at local gyms, yoga studios and sports facilities across Chapel Allerton and Moortown, or support local teams and community fitness groups. The area has a thriving social scene with independent venues, cafés and cultural spaces at the heart of the community.

Chapel Allerton and Moortown have a rich history shaped by Leeds’ suburban growth during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. We visited the area this month and found some fly tipping on Woodland View. We've arranged to have this collected.

On Bentley Lane, we are clearing moss on the gable end roof. We are also aware of signs of a small leak on the top floor of block 12 - 16 and we have raised a repair for this.

A Neighbourhood Plan sets out our commitment to you and your community. We want to help build a strong community with you, your neighbours, local businesses, local charities and so many more.

We want to know what's important to you and what you'd like to see in your community. We also want to hear what works well; is there someone in your community doing wonderful things for others that should be celebrated? Do you have an idea for your community, such as setting up a group activity that you’d like to arrange but need funding or resources to set it up? We can’t promise we can help with everything but let’s start the conversation.
