Drighlington, Gildersome and Morley sit to the south-west of Leeds and are known for their strong community spirit and proud local identity. From village events in Drighlington to the bustling high street in Morley, these are places where neighbours know each other and local groups thrive.

Residents enjoy a great mix of amenities, from independent shops and cafés in Morley town centre to everyday essentials in Gildersome and Drighlington. Popular local spots include Dartmouth Park, Scatcherd Park and the historic Morley Town Hall. Families also enjoy nearby attractions such as Oakwell Hall Country Park and regular community events including the Morley Arts Festival and Morley Carnival.

The area is represented across the Morley wards of Leeds City Council and Morley Town Council. Local councillors including Jane Senior, Bob Gettings and community representatives across Morley, Drighlington and Gildersome continue to support local initiatives, neighbourhood improvements and resident events.

Getting around is easy with regular bus routes connecting Morley, Gildersome and Drighlington to Leeds city centre, Bradford and surrounding areas. Morley railway station also provides convenient rail connections, while the nearby M62 and M621 make commuting straightforward.

Residents enjoy spending time outdoors at Dartmouth Park and Scatcherd Park, while younger families make use of local playgrounds, sports pitches and green spaces throughout the area. Community centres, churches and local organisations regularly host activities and seasonal events across all three communities.

Young people can get involved in sports teams, dance groups and youth activities through local schools, clubs and organisations such as Morley Rugby Club and community groups based around Morley Leisure Centre.

Stay active at local gyms and sports facilities, or cheer on community teams including Morley RFC and local grassroots football clubs. The area has a proud sporting tradition and a strong sense of local pride.

    Hello, just wanted to share something that might be helpful if things are a bit tight right now. There are some great local initiatives working to make sure good food doesn't go to waste and gets to people who need it.

    Basically, they team up with businesses to rescue perfectly good surplus food and then share it with the community. It's a win-win: less waste and more support for families.

    If you're finding it hard to put food on the table, it might be worth looking into these kinds of projects in our neighbourhood. They're doing some really important work.
