Little London sits just north of Leeds city centre and is known for its strong sense of community and diverse neighbourhoods. Residents enjoy being close to the city while still having access to local green spaces, community facilities and everyday amenities.
The area has a great mix of local shops and services, including the nearby Aldi at Meanwood Road, Morrisons at Merrion Centre and healthcare facilities such as the Woodhouse Medical Practice. Residents also benefit from local cafés, takeaways and community hubs across Little London and Woodhouse.
Little London is part of the Little London and Woodhouse ward. Your councillors, Javaid Akhtar, Eden Hills and Abigail Marshall Katung are active in supporting local initiatives and community projects across the area.
Getting around is easy with regular bus routes along Meanwood Road, Clay Pit Lane and Lovell Park Road, while Leeds city centre is within walking distance. The area is also well connected to the universities, hospitals and wider Leeds transport network.
Residents enjoy nearby green spaces including Lovell Park, Woodhouse Moor and the open spaces around Little London Community Centre. These spaces are popular for walking, relaxing and community events throughout the year.
Young people can access activities and support through local community organisations, youth programmes and nearby university outreach projects. Seasonal events, sports sessions and family activities regularly take place across the ward.
Stay active with nearby gyms and leisure facilities including The Edge sports centre and community fitness sessions held locally. Football, basketball and community wellbeing activities are popular across the area.
Little London has a fascinating history dating back to the 19th century. The area earned its name because its architecture and housing were once considered similar to parts of London. Today, Little London continues to evolve while maintaining its strong community identity and close connection to the city centre.

We want to help build a strong community with you, your neighbours, local businesses, local charities and so many more.
No-one knows your neighbourhood better than you and your neighbours, so to work out how the plan might look, we want to be guided by you.
A Neighbourhood Plan isn’t about “fixing problems”, it's about having a common goal of building a strong community. However, we will try our best to make your neighbourhood the best it can be for you and your community.

A Neighbourhood Plan isn’t about “fixing problems”, it's about having a common goal of building a strong community. However, we will try our best to make your neighbourhood the best it can be for you and your community.
We want to know what's important to you and what you'd like to see in your community. We also want to hear what works well; is there someone in your community doing wonderful things for others that should be celebrated? Do you have an idea for your community, such as setting up a group activity that you’d like to arrange but need funding or resources to set it up? We can’t promise we can help with everything but let’s start the conversation.
Take part in the Survey
We'd love to hear from you and begin to get an understanding of how you feel about your neighbourhood.
Have your say now by taking part in the survey - this should only take a couple minutes to complete. Your answers will only be visible to Leeds Federated staff, and we'd really welcome your honest feedback.
Click the link to the survey at the bottom of this page to get started!
What's Next?
We'll be arranging walkabouts in your community soon and they will appear as 'Key Dates' on the right-hand side of this page.
We are also looking into arranging a drop-in session in your area as a further opportunity to discuss creating this Neighbourhood Plan for your community if there is interest shown to have this. Additionally, we are brainstorming lots of different ways you can get involved and we would appreciate your input on the survey!
Stay up to date
