Middleton sits in the south of Leeds, close to the wide open green spaces of Middleton Park. Known for its strong sense of community, Middleton is a place where neighbours feel connected and proud of their local area.
Residents enjoy a great mix of amenities, from local shops on Town Street and the Middleton District Centre to supermarkets including Aldi and Sainsbury’s. Families make use of local services such as Middleton Health Centre, community hubs and friendly pubs and cafés across the area. Hidden gems include Middleton Park, with woodland walks, play areas and a visitor centre, while the nearby John Charles Centre for Sport offers activities and facilities for all ages.
Middleton is part of the Middleton Park ward. Your councillors, Emma Pogson-Golden, Wayne Dixon and Rob Chesterfield are active in supporting local initiatives and community projects across Middleton and Belle Isle.
Getting around is easy with regular bus routes connecting Middleton to Leeds city centre, Belle Isle and Hunslet. The area is around four miles from central Leeds and offers good access to the M621 and White Rose Shopping Centre.
Residents enjoy spending time outdoors at Middleton Park, one of the largest urban parks in Leeds, with woodland trails, bowling greens, a fishing lake and community events throughout the year.
Young people can get involved in sports, youth clubs and creative activities through local schools, community centres and organisations including The Hunslet Club. Community events and outreach activities regularly take place across Middleton during the summer months.
Stay active at local gyms and sports facilities nearby, including the John Charles Centre for Sport. Residents also support grassroots football teams and community fitness groups across South Leeds.
Middleton has a rich history shaped by its mining past and strong working-class community spirit. Today, the area continues to grow while keeping its close-knit local identity.
