Wortley, Farnley and New Farnley sit to the west of Leeds, offering a strong community spirit and easy access to both the city centre and surrounding green spaces. These neighbourhoods are popular with families, long-term residents and commuters alike, with a welcoming local feel and plenty going on throughout the year.

Residents benefit from a range of local amenities, including shops along Lower Wortley Road and Tong Road, Farnley Leisure Centre, local cafés, supermarkets and community hubs. Popular spots include Farnley Hall Park, Western Flatts Park and Wortley Recreation Ground, all offering open green space, sports facilities and play areas for children.

Wortley, Farnley and New Farnley are part of the Farnley and Wortley ward. Your local councillors are Adrian McCluskey, Kate Haigh and David Blackburn, who support local projects and community initiatives across the area.

Getting around is easy with regular bus services along Tong Road, Whitehall Road and Lower Wortley Road, providing quick connections into Leeds city centre. The area also benefits from good road links via the Ring Road and nearby access to the motorway network.

Residents enjoy spending time outdoors at Farnley Hall Park, which hosts community events and sports activities throughout the year. Nearby Western Flatts Cliff Park is popular for walking, cycling and enjoying views across west Leeds.

Young people can get involved in local football teams, cricket clubs and community activities through schools, youth groups and local sports organisations. Farnley Falcons ARLFC and local community centres regularly host activities, events and holiday programmes.

Stay active at Farnley Leisure Centre or enjoy local sports and fitness classes across the area. Residents also support grassroots clubs and community events that help bring neighbours together.

Wortley and Farnley have a rich industrial and railway heritage, with historic connections to Leeds’ manufacturing past. New Farnley has grown from a small village community into a well-connected residential area while still retaining its quieter suburban character.
